  • "Hoodoo Man Blues" is not only the first appearance on Junior Wells' LP, but very probably the first LP of a Chicago blues band ever. This album started the trend of founding blues labels in the late 60s.

Chess and some other labels had re-released 45s by Muddy Waters, Sonny Boy Williamson, Howlin' Wolf, Jimmy Reed, Elmore James, etc., but almost nobody tried to capture the Chicago blues sound, free from the limitations of the jukebox / radio commercials of the 45s.

This album presents the smoky guitar of the legendary Buddy Guy, together with his famous rhythm section.
