This 15-track compilation covers the years 1995-2004 and contains the most important tracks from all albums as well as live recordings and many unreleased tracks. Volume 2 also exists and is available. The album is considered a classic Brian Jonestown Massacre album. The CD was originally released in 1997. The Brian Jonestown Massacre is a psychedelic rock band from San Francisco, California, led by guitarist/vocalist Anton Newcombe. Originally, Newcombe was heavily influenced by the psychedelic phase of the Rolling Stones - the name comes from Stones guitarist Brian Jones in connection with a reference to cult leader Jim Jones - but in the 2000s his work has expanded into aesthetic dimensions approaching the British shoegazing genre of the 1990s and incorporating influences from world music, particularly the music of the Middle East and Brazil.
